I have been a huge fan of the pork rinds from Epic Provisions and buy them pretty regularly. When I was at the grocery store this week I saw these chicken crisps and was very intrigued! My hopes were pretty high that these would be a great cracker substitution for dips and maybe even cheese. Upon opening the bag I was underwhelmed at both the quantity (there were maybe 14 small round crackers in there) and the aroma that made me think of dog treats. Now, to be fair, pork rinds don’t smell fantastic either, so I kept my optimism and open mind. The crispness was beyond unpleasant. These were much too thick and dry that the crunch could honestly crack a fragile tooth. The flavor was not pleasant either, even with the accompaniment of a flavorful dip.
I honestly can’t put my finger on any pairing or dietary needs that these would be good for. There are many high protein/low carb options on the market and this is sadly not one I will be trying again! I’ll be delivering the remainder of the bag to our neighbor’s dogs who may find these to be delicious…full recap on their review to come! Kidding.
I’ll stick to the pork rinds from Epic as all of their flavor options are truly delicious but these chicken crisps are sadly a miss for me! Have you tried these?!
