Kitchen Remodel: Week 3

Week 3 took big changes! Our cabinets were installed and our kitchen is finally taking shape. I was so distraught when I realized how many options existed for “white” cabinets. As an indecisive person, this was a very tough choice in the process to make! I’m happy to report, now the cabinets are here, that I love the color. It’s neutral without having a look of blue or gray, or even pink!

Even at night, the kitchen just feels brighter and more cheerful. The room also feels taller due to taking the cabinets all the way up to the ceiling. It makes such a difference compared to our old ones! We’re waiting on the final trim pieces to bridge the cap of space at the very top in addition to finishing the install of the island and shelves throughout.

Someone also came out last week to measure for countertops. Since the slabs are in we are ready for fabrication so they needed to come out (once cabinets were installed) for a final measurement. Can’t wait to see them installed with our cabinets, yet, honestly, a little nervous!

Our backsplash debate continues as my husband and I still struggle to agree on anything. We need to make a decision ASAP so I’m thinking today is the day to make compromises. I’ve known what I like for a very long time, so I didn’t anticipate this to be as challenging as it is. (Insert eye roll!)

Not much else happened last week, and although it’s frustrating not seeing progress made, we’re still on schedule for our timeline to be completed by 10/23.
