Week 6 was supposed to be the last week and yet, we’re dragging it into 7 and 8 weeks. Week 6 took big shape with trim on the cabinetry, hardware, light fixtures, etc. Appliances were installed (YAY!) and were just waiting on a few details like shelves and the hood to be fully functioning. As with any home project there are always surprises that pop up or missing items that require delays in install. I’ve learned a little patience in this process and have had the mindset of, when it’s done, it’s done.
Having a dishwasher and running water in our sink have been the biggest wins for me. I know, many people don’t have a dishwasher and it’s quite a luxury to have one, but gosh was I missing one! The last few weeks were very very minor details but until this past Monday (week 9? I’ve lost count!) I can officially say we are done with the kitchen! Of course, around week 7 we already had plumbing issues with our sink and needed to have a plumber come out and take care of it. We also had a technician come out to adjust our oven as we bought a floor model and these things are expected with such a purchase.
I have to say, the process wasn’t as terrible as I was expecting. It was inconvenient, and dragged on towards the end, but it could have been worse! Our kitchen was basically functional at 6 weeks so gaining use of appliances and running water in there, was the game changer. I am so so pleased with how it turned out and I still have to catch myself when I’m cooking that I actually get to call this space mine! Well, ours! 🙂 I’m still working on the grand reveal photos of the kitchen but here are some before and afters to show you just how much brighter and larger this space feels!
