It just occurred to me that we’re halfway through summer, which gives me all sorts of feels. For one, surviving a midwest winter means that end of May/early June is our time to finally be outside and to to think about that time going away is chilling! Pun intended. The other side of the coin is that my baby (err 3 year old) starts preschool in the fall and I’m both thrilled and heartbroken at the sheer thought. In years past, end of summer meant nothing more than weather changing, but now summer ending has a whole new meaning now that we’re entering school years. Our summer bucket list is pretty relaxed given the ages of my boys but it does give me a wakeup call that our days of go-with-the-flow are limited.
We had a few planned things this summer like a wedding weekend away and an upcoming family weekend at a friends lakehouse. Otherwise we’ve just stayed local, played outside and taken many walks around the block! Im hoping to take the boys to our local pool one of these weekends because I know they will both love it! We haven’t seen a single ice cream truck yet so I’m hoping we get to experience that and I’d also like to get ice cream after dinner, which means starting dinner much earlier than normal! Those were both huge deals in my childhood and would like to pass those summer traditions on to our kids.
