If I’m on the hunt for a new snack (healthy or otherwise) I always head to Trader Joe’s. They are always putting out fun seasonal flavors and more often than not, are delicious. Oh and the placements. They get you just when you think you can get out unscathed by temptation. I almost made it, almost. The end cap of the checkout aisle had these crisps and I have to say I was intrigued. I love the fig and olive flavor they sell so this one seemed promising.
I will say, the sweet chewy strawberry hits you first. It’s subtle and hardly spicy at first taste…but the heat slowly creeps in…and lingers! I love spicy food so I didn’t find this overwhelming at all but you can definitely taste the heat! It would pair very nicely with a mild but creamy cheese like a brie, goat, or whipped ricotta! I gave one crisp to my 3 year old and he coughed when the heat crept up, so it does hit you! If you like a little spice I would definitely try this! It would make a fun addition to a cheese board but I don’t know that I would snack on these alone. But never say never!
